Project URS: You Are Safe
Accessibility of HIV Testing Kits and Contraceptives to the Students of West Visayas State University
Increase availability, quality and accessibility of services for HIV testing, as well as barriers for prevention.
Project URS aims to give WVSU students accessible free HIV testing kits and contraceptives. The students will have access to kits and contraceptives whenever they need them. This program will benefit the students in terms of their health, which they will be conscious of both for themselves and for the people they interact with. Bringing this program to the institution will also bring an HIV awareness campaign about how important this cause is and how to break the stigma associated with it.
The intent of this program is to raise the students' awareness of safe behaviors that can lower their risk of acquiring HIV, which will make them more cautious and ultimately lower infection rates. Additionally, it will help the students understand that undergoing a test does not necessarily mean that they are infected; rather, it just means that they should be health-conscious and seek to prevent the spread of the virus.

Working together on this project will be the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines—Iloilo Chapter, a group dedicated to offering high-quality services for sexual and reproductive health. They are more than willing to work together, and they will supply the testing kits and contraceptives so that this project will be accomplished. Utilizing the WVSU Drag Organization, which also works to raise awareness and prevent HIV, for this project. The said initiative would be managed by this group, which welcomes volunteers. The FPOP staff members will instruct them on how to manage test-taking students.
Moreover, this project goes beyond just giving out testing kits and contraceptives; it will also give out informative sessions from an FPOP member who is very informed about HIV and train the volunteers on how to deal with those who want to get tested.
