Project SEEK

Sustainable Environment providing Efficient Knowledge for Learning in WVSU

As the face-to-face set-up of classes with the observance of the COVID-19 pandemic becomes the new normal, students are now indulged in various locations or places where they could be comfortable with their studies whenever they review for examinations, in creating their projects and activities, and even for leisure purposes. West Visayas State University was able to create and establish buildings and infrastructures to accommodate students such as libraries and parks as most of the classrooms are designed as science and computer laboratories. However, with the increasing number of students enrolling and degree programs to be added in the future, the institution needs to develop more buildings and spaces for the students since the school library is fully occupied. This has led to students settling and seeking for study hubs and/or academically inclined coffee shops although it requires payment in order to do and finish their tasks effectively and properly.

This platform will renovate and beautify the rusted and broken study sheds in the Mini Forest as well as the other parts. It will also include and add some innovations such as having an information board to be updated with the latest happenings in the university and whiteboards with markers to be used for discussions and other purposes. With this, we will be able to have a place wherein we can all study, do our school tasks, and for recreational activities.

Project GRANTS

Grants your Platforms into Reality

Project GRANTS is a platform that aims to acquire the project proposals of the students who are not part of any council-based organizations. This will GRANT their hopes and dreams for West Visayas State University. As we choose the best out of the best platforms submitted after deliberations together with chosen trusted advisers, it will then be given a budget by USC. Those platforms that didn’t make it will not be thrown away, but will be eventually recommended or referred to be pursued by other organizations. This will open a chance for students to pursue their platforms in mind, their plans that were hindered by the pandemic, and their vision of what they want to happen. It will create an avenue for the Taga-West to make our institution not just a better one, but the best one it could be. This project will grant your platforms into reality.

Capacity Building on Parliamentary Procedure to Student Council Officers

To be part of a student council is about being knowledgeable on the basic work ethics. An elected person in position must not be only someone who has the abilities and capabilities to become a leader, but also have an intellect and literacy when it comes to dealing in formal needs of the institution. It is given that a student council should hold meetings with its agenda, write minutes of the meeting, and suggest or speak about what they wanted in order to achieve success and understanding. With all of these, it has seen that the elected students are not that well-educated and informed yet about how to address one another during meetings appropriately, how to maintain courtesy and possess basic ethics, and how one must do the minutes of the meeting correctly and efficiently - the need for composed rapport and camaraderie. It is time and it is a need that leaders should not be only someone who empowers and delegates, but someone that knows how to be intellect, literate, and refined.

The platform aims to provide workshop training to be knowledgeable for appropriate parliamentary procedures. The elected student council officers should learn the basic work ethics, correct ways of writing efficient minutes of the meeting, and how to hold favorable and productive meetings with decency and appropriateness. This promotes formality for everyone as these students may apply this ethical approach in entering the corporate world or involving in local or national politics or governance in the future. Everyone will not be just an outrageous and purposeful leader, but strong, intelligent, and courteous leaders.
